97.5 Y Country Raises Record Donation of More Than $40,320 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Mid-West Family – Southwest Michigan radio station 97.5 Y Country called out to their listenership to become a “Partner In Hope” for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and listeners stepped up to the plate to donate a record-setting local dollar amount for the Annual Country Cares St. Jude Radiothon on the station.
Assistant Program Director and Morning Show Host Matt Malone tells us…
“31 years ago, the lead singer of one of the biggest bands in country music asked artists and radio to partner together to raise money for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Randy Owen, from the group Alabama, dubbed it the “Country Cares For Kids St Jude Radiothon.”
15 years ago, 97.5 Y Country decided we wanted to support the same dream that founder Danny Thomas and Randy Owen has. And now, today, we stand together with tears and smiles on our face as we have set an all time record for the amount of money raised. Last year, $38,100. This year, over $40,320.
The best part is that we are still going to have donations coming in over the weekend AND we have another campaign starting this weekend that will continue to add to that total and I have no doubt in my mind that we can get $45,000…if not $50,000!
The radio station effectively turns over most of its’ programming for two days between 6am-7pm with Y Country hosts and Mid-West Family staffers speaking to the audience about the Partner In Hope program, the patients, and many other inspiring stories.
This year’s event was sponsored by LeValley Chevy Buick GMC in Benton Harbor, among many others. A wrap-up video of the event can be viewed below:
